You might not think that proper wheel alignment is an essential part of vehicle maintenance, because, after all, you steer while you drive, the car doesn’t steer itself. However, it is an important step to maintaining safety and optimal performance. Although you might try to do it yourself, this is one service that you should depend on the experts to do correctly, specifically at a tire shop in Spokane, WA.
The Importance of Wheel Alignment
When you get new tires, or even when you’re just coming up on a routine service, it’s always important to make sure you get a wheel alignment when recommended. One of the simplest reasons for this is that it extends the life of your tires, thus saving you money. Without proper alignment, you might notice that your car veers more to one side than the other, doesn’t drive straight, or even vibrates! As your wheels become misaligned, your tires will wear unevenly, making it harder for you to drive safely, and it can cause havoc in your vehicle’s driving performance and fuel economy in general, creating even more issues in the long run. You don’t want to leave this type of maintenance for the last minute, and you don’t want to be caught in the middle of a blizzard or rainstorm with misaligned wheels. You might ask, “How do they even get misaligned, if the wheels are being installed correctly?” Your wheels can become misaligned because of anything from uneven tire wear and incorrect installation to bumpy roads and accidents, so it is important that you do not neglect routine wheel alignment. You should rely on a trained professional to install and align your wheels to ensure you get the most accurate alignment.

Fix flat tire woes at LLoyds. If you hit a road hazard and the puncture is serviceable, our certified technicians can save you money through proper tire repair. We use the patch method to restore safe tire performance.
The Tire Patch Method
Patching requires our technicians to dismount your tire from its wheel. Once removed, your tire will be inspected for external and internal damage. Dismounting is important, because it allows our technicians to see if tire integrity has been compromised.
Repairs are possible on the tread area of the tire if the puncture is no deeper than 1/4″ (6mm). In the event your tire isn’t safe to service, you can shop for tires with us to find a suitable, affordable replacement.
A tire patch goes on the inside of your tire. Before application, we’ll buff the problem area and prepare it for the patch. After placing the patch on your tire, we use a process called stitching to apply it. Once complete, we reinstall your tire on the wheel, and you’re good to go.
Did You Know: Other methods of repair may allow you to keep your tire on the rim, but you risk using an unsafe tire in without a complete inspection. If you ride on an under-inflated tire for example, there may ground up rubber hiding between the wheel and the tire. This indicates a tire with bad structural integrity, but you wouldn’t know it without taking the tire off the rim. At LLoyds, we put customer safety ahead of convenience.
